Congratulations aplenty for the American Association of Teachers of Japanese 2019 Teacher Award in the College Level winner, Tomoko Takami. The Director of Penn’s Japanese Language Program was selected by the AATJ Board of Directors for this singular honor. Professor Suwako Watanabe, President of the Association, had this to say about Takami-sensei:
It is clear that you excel in all of the areas that we want to recognize and honor with this award: quality and innovative teaching, service to the profession and to the community, participation in professional development activities, and advocacy for your program and Japanese language education as a whole.
The Department gives its warmest congratulations to Tomoko, whose award was announced during the American Council on Foreign Languages Convention on November 23, 2019.
